What linen do you use?

Everything we make is 100% linen, woven from European-grown flax, with no cotton or synthetic blends.

We choose the weight of the linen for each use. Finer yarn (a higher Lea count) makes light, airy linen for shirts and summer dresses. Thicker yarn (a lower Lea count) makes heavier linen for pants, suits, bedding and curtains, which is less see-through and holds its shape better. Most of our fabric is 56 inches (about 142 cm) wide, and our CALM bedding linen is woven 120 inches wide, so sheets and duvet covers have no center seam.

Linen breathes, wicks moisture and dries fast, so it stays cool in warm, humid weather. You can see our Bureau Veritas certificate on our Our Story page.

How do I get the right fit with made-to-measure linen?

Every OrganoLinen piece is cut after you order it, so it's made for your body instead of pulled from a size rack. You can order in three ways: pick your usual size; enter your height, weight and a few simple details and let us work out your measurements; or enter your exact chest, waist, hip and inseam measurements if you know them. You don't need a tape measure.

Because each piece is cut individually, made-to-measure works well for people who rarely find a good fit off the rack: tall and big & tall shoppers, plus sizes, and anyone who wears a different size on top and bottom. In a set, the top and bottom are each cut to your own measurements, and plus, big and tall sizes cost the same as any other size.

It works: from November 2024 to November 2026, 98% of our made-to-measure clothing orders (510 orders) were kept without a refund for fit. If something isn't right, you have 30 days to ask for an exchange, and we cover the exchange shipping.

Will linen pants shrink after washing, and how should I wash them?

Linen can shrink a little in hot water or a hot dryer, which is why length matters most on pants. To keep yours true to size, machine wash cold, or no warmer than 40Β°C (104Β°F), on a gentle cycle with a mild detergent, then line dry or tumble dry on low and take them out while slightly damp. Don't use chlorine bleach.

Followed this way, your pants keep the length and waist we cut them to. If a pair ever needs a small change, such as a hem, you can use a local tailor and we'll reimburse up to 20% of the item price against the receipt.

Linen pants soften and relax with every wash, and creases at the knee and lap are normal. Steam them, or iron them while slightly damp, for a sharper look. Heavier linen, like the fabric we use for tailored trousers, creases less than lighter linen.

Does linen get softer over time?

Yes. Flax fibers relax with every wash, so linen feels softer and drapes better the longer you use it.
